REFERENCE NUTRIENT INTAKE (RNI) FOR SELECTED MINERALS
The table below gives the reference nutrient intake (RNI) of
the minerals for which amounts have been established; when
different, the RNI for males and females is denoted by the
letters M and F. Iron requirements during pregnancy and
breast-feeding are approximately the same as those
for nonpregnant women, but additional iron may be
recommended for two to three months after the birth
to replenish iron stores depleted by pregnancy.
